In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.

Aristotle (384 – 322 BC)

A picturesque rose shining brightly towards the night's dark sky. It unfolds its elegancy, beauty and architecture layer upon layer with its withering periphery opposing the unharmed centre.

Vermin Death Stack

Original artwork: Vermin Death Stack (1997-98) by David Falconer (*1967)

What do you feel when you look at this photograph of Falconer's dead frozen rodents? Is it disgust or fear? Excitement or curiosity? Or did you feel sadness, shame or even guilt at first sight?

This dead, frozen mass is somehow capable of releasing a force that causes inner commotion. A source of energy and it unconsciously drives the observer towards the unknown.

Only recently, I have developed an interest for photography. In 2015, I purchased my first camera (SONY Alpha 6000, APS-C). My works are born from the moment and its natural surrounding. During after-editing, I try to emphasize and reinforce a particular element inherent in the original work.

MRI research in Tokyo, Japan

With the goal to bridge macroscopic and microscopic imaging, I was working in context of Japan's Brain/MINDS project at RIKEN's Brain Science Institute (9.4T MRI), focusing on functional and structural MRI research (FSL, AFNI, SPM, ANTs, Bash/shell scripting, Matlab). I also had the opportunity to attend a Japanese language class.

Experimental MD research study (*4 yr) in molecular neuroscience

In the past 4 years, I was able to acquire key skills in molecular biology (Protein Engineering, Primer- and Plasmid-Design), laboratory techniques (Cell Culture, Western Blots, Gel Electrophoresis), fluorescence imaging (FRET, Sensitized Emission, Photobleaching), data analysis and the usage of various bio-software (e.g. ZEISS ZEN, Jmol, ImageJ, SerialCloner, BioEdit)

Envision and make it real.

Ever since I was caught by London's spirit, I have dedicated my time to the subject of entrepreneurship. Being a medical doctor, I'm particularly (but not exclusively) interested in eHealth and eCommerce startups. Since 07/15 I'm working on a small, personal project that goes by the name of gesundacht.
